I know it has been a while since my last blog post. I want to sincerely apologize to my followers that may have been patiently waiting for my next post.
This past year has presented new, unprecedented challenges for so many people around the world. My introvert nature has become even more apparent since the start of the pandemic and contributed to my absence on social media and my blog.
So what have I been doing all these months?
I have been spending more time with my family and just trying to relax and enjoy life the best that I can. I have been focusing on, and appreciating the blessings in each day. My life is truly blessed and I have so much to thank God for on a daily basis.
Sadly, my family and I endured a very heartbreaking loss on December 22, 2020. Our loyal family dog Diego lost his battle with lung cancer. We received the grim news in October that a significant tumor was found in his lung pushing on his heart. His cancer was aggressive and progressed very fast.
Diego was truly a member of our family and he filled our home with so much love and joy over the years. I still miss him every single day. Working from home, a huge part of my day for many years was spent with Diego. He was a unique soul with a huge heart. He will be forever missed and I am not sure if my heart will ever fully heal. R.I.P. my faithful friend.
What about sewing?
In addition to spending more time with my family and missing Diego terribly, I have also been trying to squeeze in as much sewing as I can. Any extra free time is spent at my sewing machine. One of the things I love about sewing is how therapeutic it has been for me. Sewing is a good distraction, keeping my mind off things that I cannot control.
Here are some projects I have made since my last blog post…
Winter Projects
I made the quilted wall hanging pictured below for my bestie for Christmas. She was not able to put up a Christmas tree this year due to an injury so I thought this wall hanging would help cheer her up and put her in the Christmas spirit. The pattern is “Oh Christmas Tree” by Fig Tree & Co. I really enjoyed making this wall hanging. It was such a fun pattern and I thought it turned out really cute!
I wanted to make something special for my son’s 16th birthday back in October. He loves tigers, specifically white tigers, so when I coincidentally stumbled across this free “Winter White Tiger Pattern” on Equilter.com, I knew it would be the perfect gift.
One of the things I love about Equilter.com patterns is that they list all of the fabrics and required amounts in the online pattern so they can be instantly added to your shopping cart. It is also very easy to swap out your fabric choices if you want to choose something different than what is listed for the pattern.
Since I had enough extra fabric, I decided to make a matching pillow case. In case you are wondering, my son loved his gift!
Even though I ordered the required amount for the quilt above, I still had a bit of extra fabric leftover. I love when that happens! I had just enough fabric leftover for make the table runner pictured below. The pattern can be found on page 16 of Quilters World magazine, Winter 2020 edition. It was the perfect project to make in January.
The sweater shown below is The Fall In Love Sweater Pattern by Ellie & Mac. The rose fabric I used was “Cotton Textured Knit Fabric” that was kindly sent to me by Minerva.com in exchange for a blog post.
I had enough of this beautiful cotton textured knit leftover to make the infinity scarf pictured below. You can read my full blog post sharing details about the fabric and making the sweater and scarf on Minerva.com here.
This and That
Back in the fall, I was itching to add to my Autumn decor. I purchased the embroidery image below from Embroidery Library.
The rest of the projects shown below are just some additional random projects I made since mid 2020.
I am currently working on a really fun project that I am hoping to share with you very soon. If you stop by my Instagram page, you will get a sneak peek of what I am working on.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my post. It feels great to be writing about my love of sewing again. Please subscribe to my blog to get notifications for future blog posts.
Is there anything you canβt do? I love, love, love, the two tops! They look professionally made. Youβve really mastered sewing!
Thank you Denise β€. I promise they are super easy. The summer top is 2 pieces plus the neck band. Sounds like a fun easy sewing project for us to get together and do one day. π
